Ricercatore Universitario presso l'Università Federico II di Napoli, associato all'Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, e "visiting professor" presso la Shanghai Normal University. Astrofisico, si occupa di materia oscura e della formazione ed evoluzione delle galassie. In particolare, si interessa del fenomeno noto come "lensing gravitazionale". Si interessa inoltre di problemi di Storia dell'Astronomia, ed è impegnato nella didattica della fisica di base e dell'astrofisica presso il Dipartimento di Fisica. Ha studiato all'Università "Federico II" ed il Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ed ha lavorato presso il Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (La Palma, Spagna), il CNRS (Marsiglia, Francia), e l'Osservatorio di Capodimonte (Napoli). Coordina un progetto osservativo internazionale presso il telescopio VST (VLT Survey Telescope, Cile). Assistant Professor at the University Federico II of Naples, associate at the National Institute of Astrophysics, and "visiting professor" at the Shanghai Normal University. Astrophysicist, his research activity focuses on the study of the dark matter and the formation and evolution of galaxies. In particular, he is interested on the phenomenon known as "gravitational lensing". He is also interested in the History of Astronomy, and he is involved in the teaching of physics and astrophysics at the Department of Physics. He studied at the University "Federico II" and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and worked at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (La Palma, Spain), the CNRS (Marseille, France), and the Observatory of Capodimonte (Naples). At the present he coordinates an international observational project using the VLT Survey Telescope (Chile).
